About

Who am I?

Hi, I’m Marcus (That's me on the right, with my little assistant on my back). A geologist by trade with a passion for photography. I especially enjoy nature photography, shooting everything from tiny insects to sweeping landscapes. I am based in Kent, UK and can often be found at a local nature reserve with my camera taking my daughter to see the ducks, her first word and favourite animal.

Why nature photography?

Ever since I was young I have loved nature and the outdoors. I used to spend a lot of time on hikes across the moors and canoeing down rivers. This has given me respect and appreciation for the beauty and brutality of nature. I try to convey the former through my work.

My love of photography stems from my grandad who let me use his first digital camera, a compact olympus with 0.8 MP resolution. Since then I’ve been through a fair few cameras, but only bought my first ‘enthusiast’ camera two years ago, and began learning how to use it properly. Under no illusions that I've completed my journey in photography, I’m still learning and improving. Feel free to join me as I carry on my path and share lessons I've learnt.

A note on sustainability and conservation

Due to my passion for nature and the environment all the prints available on my website are as environmentally friendly as possible.
